Students at The Forge Academy receive a full Alberta high school education, including core subjects such as English, Mathematics, Sciences, and Social Studies.

What sets us apart is our specialist career pathways — practical, high-impact courses that introduce students to real industries, technologies, and professional tools. These are not electives — they’re central to our vision of helping students discover their passions, develop in-demand skills, and plan for meaningful futures.

Specialist Career-Focused Programs

Students will choose from a variety of pathways, gaining both foundational knowledge and real-world experience. All programs will be taught by qualified teachers and industry-connected professionals. 
 

Our course offering changes based on trends in employment and the interests of our students, but could include:

Technical & Trade Pathways

  • Computer Networking – Learn to build and manage network systems, with a focus on cybersecurity and IT infrastructure.

  • Carpentry – Hands-on projects in set construction, framing, and design, tied to real productions and school initiatives.

  • Electrician Fundamentals – Explore electrical systems, lighting, wiring, and controls through project-based learning.
     

Creative & Media Pathways

  • Cinematography & Videography – Storyboarding, filming, editing, and producing video content using industry-standard equipment.

  • Digital Animation – 2D and 3D animation using modern software to bring digital stories and designs to life.

  • Audio Engineering – Learn sound design, mixing, and recording for podcasts, music, and video.

  • Video & Audio Production – Cross-functional training in broadcast production, podcast creation, and digital storytelling.

Health, Beauty & Wellness Pathways

  • Medical Technician Foundations – Introduction to roles such as radiology assistant, pharmacy technician, and dental lab tech.

  • Nursing Assistant Prep – Learn the basics of patient care, anatomy, and health systems as preparation for further healthcare studies.

  • Cosmetology – Develop technical and creative skills in hairstyling, skin care, and aesthetics in a professional-grade environment.
